In 2008 The Dinerstein Companies adopted ecofriendly building design and construction standards set by the U.S. Green Building Council for achieving LEED® certification. Dinerstein’s commitment to developing quality environmentally friendly housing that meets the highest standards of performance and sustainability became known as Living Beyond Green.

Eco-Friendly Construction Begins

Founded in 1955, The Dinerstein Companies (TDC) has become one of the most recognized builders and developers of multi-family and student housing properties in the country. Beginning in 2007, the Company recognized the apartment industry’s need for energy efficient design and sustainable construction. During this time, TDC committed to the design and construction of 100% of their product to meet LEED Silver Certification or higher. The Company’s first LEED Certification came in 2009 and by 2011, 100% of the company’s development efforts were designed and constructed to LEED Silver standards or higher. Since then, TDC has successfully completed over 5,300 LEED Certified apartment units in twenty separate projects, with another 3,552 units currently under construction. Since 2013, all of TDC’s development and construction has met LEED For Homes Gold standards including two LEED For Homes Platinum Certifications. With the continued support of US Ecologic, TDC’s LEED for Homes Provider and Green Rater, the company has evolved into one of the industry’s largest LEED for Homes multi-family builder/developers and was honored by USGBC as 2015’s LEED For Homes - Outstanding Multifamily Builder.
